December 2011 - Harj Dhatt completed the acquisition of two long leasehold interests on behalf of the Lounge Sofa Company Limited at Wessex Gate Retail Park, Poole and Cribbs Causeway Retail Park, Bristol which involved the separation of the unit with Argos Limited.

November 2011 - Lesley White, part of our regulatory team, attended a week long inquest in Chelmsford. Our client was one of four interested parties, two of which were large multi-national companies. Although the eventual verdict was as expected, much work remains for the team, as the HSE continues its investigations into potential prosecutions (including PACE intereviews for some parties). Lesley's involvement and expertise ensured the protection of our client's best interests and her attendance at the inquest also provided an invaluable insight into current HSE thinking.

 

November 2011 - Having hosted bands such as Dire Straits, the Manic Street Preachers, the Police, Blur, the Stone Roses and U2, Harj Dhatt completes on the purchase of JB’s Nighclub in Dudley for Mr Ramesh Kumar Ahir who aims to have the club up and running in the New Year.

 

October 2011 - ORJ's litigation team, headed by Patrick Tedstone, successfully defended a substantial commercial client against a massively exaggerated claim for professional services arising out of a major industrial project.  The case went all the way to a contested trial and has been reported (Nadir Imamoglu v JPE (Holdings) Limited [2011] EWHC 2588 (TCC)).  ORJ conducted the defence under a Discounted Conditional Fee Agreement.  The Claimant also had the benefit of a CFA and After the Event Insurance policy. 

 

September 2011 - Acting on behalf of Finning (UK) Ltd, Harj Dhatt completed a multi-million pound acquisition of development land adjacent to Finning (UK) Ltd’s Headquarters in Cannock.

August 2011 - ORJ's corporate team completed the equity sale of a Warwickshire based telecommunications company for an initial consideration of £4.4m rising to £5.5m or earn out.

 

July 2011 - Following a lengthy litigation process, Patrick Tedstone successfully settled a multi-million dollar international dispute on behalf of a UK plc.

 

June 2011 - ORJ's corporate team completed a £17m deal for the equity sale of a substantial electrical engineering company.

 

May 2011 - Harj Dhatt headed the team on the multi-million pound sale of Great Haywood Marina, Staffordshire and Tattenhall Marina, Chester.

April 2011 - Construction Law specialist Michael Smyth has now successfully completed stages two and three of the RSPH/RICS Diploma in Adjudication, achieving their 'Certificate in Adjudication in the Construction Industry'. Unit 4, completing the diploma, will be undertaken in June.

January 2011: Joanne Davies – Conducted a successful Mediation involving two National Firms of Solicitors, in relation to a professional negligence claim against Solicitors and Architects

 

November 2010 -Felix Dodd joined our expanding dispute resolution team.

August - Michael Smyth successfully concluded a difficult claim concerning breach of trust, which has now been reported (Wright v Wright [2010] EWHC 1808 (Ch))
